We all think about how we can effectively save money so we can retire, and ideally have money we can spend on things ranging from our mortgages to entertainment and traveling costs. For many, these savings plans usually come in the form of 401k investments, though other options are available.
Those absorbed in a plant-based lifestyle know the positive impact of the food we eat on our bodies and minds. Many foods that have come to be associated with the "Standard American Diet" great increase cancer risk.
The story of Plant-Smart Living and Farmer Fred helps to solidify why PSL is important in a world where many excited plant-based, vegans are popping up online. The problem with so many voices is that it can be difficult to differentiate between them all. Our story allows us to have some unique selling points, and engage with our unique and diverse audience which we have found to range quite significantly in age, gender, ethnicity, and current diets (among other things).
A whole foods plant-based diet at it's core is a diet derived solely from plant-life. Vegetables, fruits, legumes, tubers, starchy veggies and whole grains comprise the main dietary elements. Meat, milk, cheese, eggs and other animal products are not acceptable if you are eating a plant-based diet. Additionally, many people who live a plant-based lifestyle also try to minimize or completely remove the usage of highly refined foods such as bleached flour, refined sugar, and oil.
Living a plant-smart, plant-based, vegan diet has the potential to be lifesaving. While on the surface, many of us who tout a plant-based diet occasionally discuss it as a miracle cure for any number of physical and psychological ailments, and it could easily be construed as a “snake oil” sales tactic, the reality as I see it is simple: living a plant-based lifestyle is a miracle. This is not a term I use lightly. I know in my heart I want for each and every one of you to see how a plant-based diet can change your life, but this is no easy task. I wanted to take some time today to talk about an invisible disease that haunts many people, that of anxiety and fear, and how it can be eliminated through a plant-based lifestyle.
