The Happy Herbivore Guide to Plant-Based Living by Lindsay Nixon – Book Review

First, a special thanks to BenBella Books and Lindsay Nixon for sending Plant-Smart Living a copy of this book: The Happy Herbivore Guide to Plant-Based Living. You can get to know more about Lindsay Nixon through her personal website The Happy Herbivore. At the time of posting the video (above), I was only able to skim through the book, however since then I have had the chance to dive into the book more. My take really remains the same as my initial impressions as I walked through the book in the video.

There are 11 chapters in this detailed and interesting vegan lifestyle book. It is truly an excellent overview of a plant-based lifestyle. It covers an array of topics that impact those of us living (or thinking about living) a plant-based lifestyle such as the food we eat (even narrowing it down to discuss some great tips and ideas for keeping this lifestyle while camping or traveling), potential challenges faced in social situations, the benefits of a vegan diet and impact on our bodies, and much more.

The Happy Herbivore Guide is a book that will be most beneficial to those of you just starting to explore this method of living. It is incredibly valuable and goes further than just being a “vegan 101” educational resource. The personal touches and anecdotes help to drive the book home for me. As I read through this book for the first time, one of the immediate things I recognized is how I have personally come to have very similar views on social and cultural issues discussed by Ms. Nixon. Additionally, touching on topics such as weight loss and allergies to certain foods was something I experienced first-hand, and found plant-based living to be a natural remedy. It is really powerful stuff, and I hope I am able to help guide a few of my viewers to check this book out.

The Happy Herbivore Guide to Plant-Based Living is available for purchase through Amazon and other fine, vegan friendly, retailers.
